Star Wars Battlefront is trying to live off the good will of its previous run Tomb Raider is a reboot to a well established franchise. MK9 is just called mortal kombat and is basically a better version of the last 8 games.
This makes it a lot easier to hide it in the shadow of the critically acclaimed reboot.ĭoom is a continuation of the series while being a soft reboot. Despite its AAA budget it has become something of a cult classic. Prey was a small, underwhelming launch that had a ton of hype beforehand but was practically forgotten a day after.
But whether intentional or not, their actions are not aiding in the preservation of the original.Īs for Tomb Raider, I assume a fuss wasn't made because that series is prominent in gaming's history. I don't know what Bethesda's motives are nor do I know if they even care about gaming's history. I will say that my comment of "sweeping under the rug" made the act of obscuring the original seem like a malicious one so I will admit that I was wrong there. Not to mention the next generation of gamers who were too young for Prey (2006) but are now of age to purchase the reboot without any knowledge of the original. I would wager that there is a very large group of people going into Prey (2017) not knowing that it is a reboot. We are both well informed gamers but it is important to note that we are the niche consumer. Just wanted to note how many great games the community is missing out on, and that seeing them on GOG would be really wonderful. I know many of these games *cannot* come to GOG due to the IP being tied up in red tape (such as NOLF), and some others might not simply because the publishers don't care, but some of these seem like they are actually possible to have brought back.Īdmittedly, I don't really know what my own point is with this post. No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy In H.A.R.M.'s Way.*The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth 2.*The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth (2004).*Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.Age of Empires (1997) well that was convenient - Age of Empires: Definitive Edition coming this year.If you have a technical issue with a game or GOG.com itself, it is recommended that you contact GOG Support.
